Our History

Our History

Our story began in 1955 when Lawrence Faul of the Faul Group formed a company to provide commercial fleet leasing. By 1958 the name Union Company had been established. The years and Union's success rolled on, and, in 1969, we incorporated as Union Leasing, Inc.

Fast forward to 1989, when, after years of growth, Union Leasing, Inc. was acquired by Chicago Freight Car Leasing. CFCL, a privately owned family company with its roots in rail transportation dating back to 1928, gave Union an infusion of resources, expertise and innovative thinking that took us to the next level.

Since that time, Union has continued to excel at providing financial, leasing, and fleet management services to all facets of the commercial, trucking and rental car industries.

Then, in 2013, we expanded our offerings, by adding Philadelphia-based Express 4x4 Truck Rental to the Union family. Express offers short- to mid-term truck rentals, a market Union wanted to be able to serve. With their family culture and “mint-on-the-pillow” service, Express has proven a perfect fit. Together, we continue to set the standard in the vehicle acquisition market.

Today, Chicago Freight Car Leasing and Union Leasing are a part of Sasser Family Holdings, Inc. an umbrella corporation that includes our sister companies: CF Rail Services, CF Asia Pacific Holdings, NxGen Rail Services and XCED Aviation Services. This structure gives us a vast amount of resources and knowledge to bring our customers the best solutions and service possible. We are proud to be a part of this group of quality businesses.
